Rising Sons Leadership Academy LLC ("Rising Sons," "we," "our," or "us") operates the website and platform at risingsonsacademy.org. We are based in Maryland. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information about you and your family when you use our platform.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when a parent or guardian creates an account or submits an application:
- Parent or guardian name, email address, phone number, and WhatsApp number
- City and state of residence
- Son's first and last name, age, and grade
- Optional student email address for students aged 13 and older
- Account credentials (email and password)
- Messages sent through the platform
We do not collect or store payment card information. All payment processing is handled by PayPal. Please review PayPal's privacy policy at paypal.com for information about how they handle your payment data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your family account
- Process your application and enroll your son in the appropriate cohort
- Deliver program materials, session information, and communications through the platform
- Send transactional emails such as enrollment confirmations and login credentials
- Process and manage subscription payments through PayPal
- Respond to your questions and support requests
- Improve and maintain the platform
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Notice)
Rising Sons serves students as young as Grade 3, which may include children under the age of 13. We take the privacy of children seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All accounts are created by a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must apply on behalf of their son and provide consent before any student account is created for a child under 13.
Student accounts for children under 13 use an internal system email address and are accessed through a username and password provided by Rising Sons. We do not require or collect a personal email address from students under 13.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper consent, please contact us immediately at help@risingsonsacademy.org and we will promptly delete the information.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the platform, including Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email delivery), and PayPal (payment processing)
- Zoom, for the purpose of facilitating live virtual sessions
- Law enforcement or government agencies if required by law or to protect the safety of our students and families
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days except where we are required to retain it by law.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you or your son
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and personal information
- Withdraw consent for us to use your son's information (this will result in termination of enrollment)

8. Security
We use industry standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data storage and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
9. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the platform. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
